Varicose Veins Treatment Options

Endovenous Foam Treatment (EVFT) for Varicose Veins

This minimally-invasive outpatient procedure uses a foam solution to shrink and close varicose veins. Using an ultrasound probe, your doctor will scan the varicose veins through the skin and map the weak points causing the problem. The foam is then injected into the target veins through a catheter, leaving surrounding tissues unaffected. You may feel relief immediately after the procedure or for more severe cases, this may be combined with other treatment options. You will be asked to wear a compression stocking for up to 2 weeks to support the compression of the treatment.

VenaCure EVLT™ Laser Treatment for Varicose Veins

Similar to the EVFT procedure, this minimally-invasive outpatient procedure, takes less than 45 minutes to perform & uses laser light to shrink and close varicose veins. The laser is inserted into the target veins through a catheter, leaving surrounding tissues unaffected. The laser is activated within the vein causing the vein to compress and close giving you pain relief and aesthetic improvement.

Micro-foam Sclerotherapy Vein Treatment

Similar to EVFT, this procedure uses a medical foam solution to treat spider veins and varicose veins. In most cases, ultrasound will be used to guide the injection. Your physician will inject the foam solution into the main feeder vein that directs blood to the spider veins. This will constrict blood flow to the spider veins causing them to collapse in place. The blood flow will be redirected to healthier veins and your body will absorb the collapsed veins. The treatment area will be wrapped tightly to support the treatment, but there is usually no movement or activity restriction, so you can get right back out after the treatment.

Laser Treatment for Spider Veins

Laser treatment takes specialized training in order to achieve the best result. Our physicians are certified to perform this treatment and have provided relief for many patients. To begin, a calibration session may be required. During this session, the doctor will test the light on an area of skin to determine your body’s reaction to the different levels of light. After a few days, you will return for an evaluation and your doctor will know how your skin reacts to the laser, and what settings are best to treat the spider veins. During this quick and painless procedure, laser light is used to penetrate the skin and reduce or eliminate the appearance of spider veins. The light will cause the veins to coagulate and shrink. Although you may feel relief immediately, you may notice the veins start to darken; no worries. After 7-10 days, the veins will fade. Your doctor will go over any tips for any skin discomfort you may feel for a few days after the procedure.

Sclerotherapy Vein Treatment

Like most treatment options, this is a non-invasive, outpatient procedure. In Sclerotherapy, the doctor uses a mild chemical solution, called a sclerosant, to treat spider veins and varicose veins. The solution is injected into the target vein which, in the case of spider veins, is the feeder vein that provides blood flow to the spider veins. By treating the source, all the spider veins will be restricted causing them to shrink and finally fade.
