How We Approach Treatment Once We Know More
An evaluation is only useful if it actually changes what happens next here’s how that plays out at MVM Health.
If a conservative approach fits, we start there. Many conditions respond to non-invasive options first, and we won’t skip past that step just to get to something more involved.
If something more targeted is appropriate, we explain why. Any recommendation beyond conservative care comes with a clear explanation of what it involves, what to expect, and why it fits your specific evaluation not a default next step for everyone.
If we’re not the right fit for something, we’ll say so. Coordinated care sometimes means recognizing when a different specialist or approach makes more sense, and helping you get there rather than keeping you in a plan that isn’t working.
Nothing happens without your understanding first. Whatever direction your care takes, you’ll know the reasoning behind it before you’re asked to decide anything.

I'm going to say Dr. O is a miracle worker. I have two herniated discs in my neck and the pain was so severe, I had to roll out of bed some days. I went to see Dr. O and was scheduled for an injection in my neck. The first injection helped a little bit, but I was still in severe pain most days. Speaking to other people, it normally takes two injections so I went from my second injection with Dr. O. Oh, and by the way, he squeezed me in the very next day for the procedure. I have not felt this good in a very long time. I can actually sit in a chair without my neck throbbing from pain and I've even started taking better care of my vegetable garden in my yard. Like I said this man is a miracle worker. Love, love, love him and I highly recommend him. Oh, and all of his staff are extremely friendly, patient, and very empathetic to their patients.Posted on Google![]()

I have been a patient of Dr. Orhurhu for over a year and the care he has given me has been exceptional. I had a compound fracture of my L2 vertebrae in May 2024 and he performed a Kyphoplasty in his office with wonderful results. I still have issues with my back due to scoliosis and bulgeing discs that impinge on my spine. Dr.O suggested ablation therpy on my low back along with 4 epidural injections with 2 more to come this week. But I have great faith in Dr. Orhurhu that I will be improving under his excellent care and guidance.Posted on Google![]()

FAQ
Our Philadelphia office is at 2418 E York St, Suite #5, Philadelphia, PA 19125. It’s in Fishtown, close to Port Richmond and East Kensington, and a short drive from the I-95 Girard Avenue exit. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Many patients start with conservative care such as physical therapy and activity changes. When more targeted care makes sense, MVM Health’s pain services include epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, and sacroiliac joint injections. Your evaluation decides which options fit you. You can ask our Philadelphia team which procedures are done at this office.
Epidural steroid injections are one of the pain treatments MVM Health provides. They place anti-inflammatory medication near irritated spinal nerves. They are sometimes used for sciatica, herniated discs, or spinal stenosis. Your provider will first confirm whether an epidural is right for you. Call (610) 936-8214 to ask about an evaluation at our Philadelphia office.
Yes. Your plan may include physical therapy alongside other treatments. Our team can coordinate with your physical therapist and primary care provider so everyone works from the same plan.
MVM Health works with many plans, including Medicare, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, and Humana. Coverage depends on your specific plan and medical necessity, and some procedures need prior authorization. Call (610) 936-8214 to confirm your plan before your visit.
No. Our Philadelphia office sees patients by appointment for evaluation and ongoing pain care. It is not an emergency service. For sudden severe pain, chest pain, or a serious injury, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Consider an evaluation if your back pain:
- has lasted several weeks or keeps coming back
- spreads into your leg
- wakes you at night
- limits your work or daily activities
Get emergency care right away if back pain comes with any of these:
- loss of bladder or bowel control
- new leg weakness
- numbness in the groin area
- fever
- pain after a serious fall or accident
Yes. Pain specialists often help manage arthritis in the spine, hips, knees, and other joints. Depending on the joint and your evaluation, options may include physical therapy, injections, radiofrequency ablation, or regenerative medicine. The goal is less pain and better function. Results vary from person to person.
- Physical therapy builds strength and mobility and is often a first step.
- Injections deliver medication to a specific area to calm inflammation. They can also help pinpoint where the pain is coming from.
- Radiofrequency ablation uses heat to interrupt pain signals from specific nerves. It is usually done after a diagnostic nerve block confirms those nerves are the source.
Cost depends on the treatment, your insurance plan, your deductible and copay, and whether prior authorization is needed. Our team reviews your benefits and explains expected costs before treatment begins. If cost is a concern, ask about MVM Health’s financial hardship request.
Yes. MVM Health’s pain services also include:
- the MILD® procedure for lumbar spinal stenosis
- SPRINT® peripheral nerve stimulation
- kyphoplasty for spinal compression fractures
- regenerative medicine
Not every procedure suits every patient or is offered at every location. Your provider will explain which options apply to you.
Yes. If you’ve been told you need surgery or a specific procedure, MVM Health’s second opinion program can review your diagnosis and options. You’ll get an independent look before you decide.
