Your Path to Lasting Vein Health

Vein problems are more than a cosmetic concern. When valves inside leg veins weaken, blood can pool and lead to aching, swelling, bulging veins and skin changes over time. At MVM Health, our vein specialists treat both the veins you can see and the hidden leaking veins that often cause them.
Most treatments are done in the office with local numbing, and most people walk out the same day. Some patients need one treatment, while others do best with a combination, such as closing a leaking vein first and then clearing smaller surface veins. Your specialist will explain your options, what recovery looks like and what your insurance may cover.

How Your Vein Treatment Is Chosen

There’s no one-size-fits-all vein treatment. Your plan depends on which veins are affected, how blood is flowing through them and whether any valves are leaking. Every plan at MVM Health starts with a full evaluation:

Symptoms and History

Your specialist asks about aching, swelling, cramps or visible veins, along with past blood clots, pregnancies and medicines, then examines your legs while you stand.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

Ultrasound Mapping

A painless duplex ultrasound maps your leg veins and shows the direction of blood flow, so hidden leaking veins can be found.

Your Personal Plan

Based on the size, location and type of vein involved, your specialist recommends one treatment or a combination and explains recovery and coverage.

Treatment and Follow-Up

Most treatments are done in the office with local numbing. A follow-up visit, often with ultrasound, checks that treated veins have closed well.

I'm going to say Dr. O is a miracle worker. I have two herniated discs in my neck and the pain was so severe, I had to roll out of bed some days. I went to see Dr. O and was scheduled for an injection in my neck. The first injection helped a little bit, but I was still in severe pain most days. Speaking to other people, it normally takes two injections so I went from my second injection with Dr. O. Oh, and by the way, he squeezed me in the very next day for the procedure. I have not felt this good in a very long time. I can actually sit in a chair without my neck throbbing from pain and I've even started taking better care of my vegetable garden in my yard. Like I said this man is a miracle worker. Love, love, love him and I highly recommend him. Oh, and all of his staff are extremely friendly, patient, and very empathetic to their patients.

I have been a patient of Dr. Orhurhu for over a year and the care he has given me has been exceptional. I had a compound fracture of my L2 vertebrae in May 2024 and he performed a Kyphoplasty in his office with wonderful results. I still have issues with my back due to scoliosis and bulgeing discs that impinge on my spine. Dr.O suggested ablation therpy on my low back along with 4 epidural injections with 2 more to come this week. But I have great faith in Dr. Orhurhu that I will be improving under his excellent care and guidance.

Our Approach to Vein Health

Good vein care starts with finding the real source of your symptoms. At your first visit, your specialist reviews your health history, examines your legs and uses a duplex ultrasound to map blood flow and find any leaking valves. Visible veins are often fed by a deeper vein that isn’t working, so treating only what you can see may not last.

With that full picture, your specialist builds a plan around your symptoms, goals and coverage. That may mean closing a leaking vein first, then clearing smaller surface veins, along with simple steps like walking and compression to support healing.

Take the First Step Toward Healthier Veins

You don’t have to live with heavy, aching legs or veins that make you self-conscious. A vein evaluation at MVM Health shows what’s causing your symptoms and which treatments can help. Our team checks your insurance benefits before your visit, so you know what to expect. Schedule your consultation today and take the first step toward lighter, more comfortable legs.

A thin laser fiber placed inside a leaking vein uses heat to seal it shut. It treats larger, straighter veins in the office, and most people return to work within one to two days.

Best for:
Larger, straighter leaking veins.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

Tiny injections of a vein-closing medicine make spider veins and small varicose veins collapse and fade over several weeks. Sessions take under an hour, with little to no downtime.

Best for:
Spider veins and small varicose veins.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

A small amount of medical adhesive closes a leaking vein without heat. It usually needs only one numbing shot, and many people return to their routine the same day.

Best for: Leaking veins when heat isn’t ideal.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

A thin catheter uses gentle, controlled heat to seal a larger leaking vein from the inside. It’s done in the office with local numbing, and most people return to light activity in about a day.

Best for:
Larger leaking saphenous veins.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

A spinning wire tip and vein-closing medicine seal a leaking vein without heat. It’s often chosen for veins near nerves below the knee, with a return to routine the same or next day.

Best for:
Leaking veins near nerves, below the knee.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

Bulging surface veins are removed through tiny skin nicks under local numbing. It’s often paired with ablation, and you can walk out the same day with mild bruising.

Best for:
Large, rope-like surface veins.

Which Treatment Fits Your Veins?

The right treatment depends on the size and type of vein involved. Here’s how our specialists usually match common vein problems to treatment. Your exam and ultrasound confirm the best choice for you.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

Spider Veins

Thin surface veins usually respond well to sclerotherapy, with quick visits and no downtime.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

Small Varicose Veins

Smaller bulging veins near the skin are often treated with liquid or foam sclerotherapy.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

Large, Rope-Like Veins

Big bulging surface veins can be removed through tiny nicks with ambulatory phlebectomy.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

Leaking Saphenous Veins

The main hidden cause of varicose veins is usually closed with RFA or laser ablation.

Vein Treatment,Vein Treatment Options

Veins Near Nerves

Veins below the knee are often closed without heat using ClariVein or VenaSeal.

Prefer Fewer Needles

VenaSeal usually needs one numbing shot and often no compression stockings afterward.

Not sure which fits? Your symptoms alone don’t always show the cause. A quick ultrasound finds hidden leaking veins, so your specialist can recommend the right treatment, or a combination, for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is minimally invasive vein treatment different from surgery?

Minimally invasive treatments close or remove problem veins through a needle entry or tiny nicks, using heat, medicine or adhesive. Older vein stripping surgery needed larger cuts and often general anesthesia, and it’s rarely needed today.

Are minimally invasive vein treatments safe?

Yes, when they follow a proper exam and ultrasound. Serious complications are uncommon, and most side effects, like bruising or tenderness, are mild and fade within a week or two.

How do I know if I need vein treatment?

If you have aching, heavy or swollen legs, night cramps, bulging veins or skin changes near the ankle, an evaluation can show whether a vein problem is the cause.

What happens if vein disease isn't treated?

Vein disease often slowly gets worse. Over time, it can lead to more swelling and pain, skin darkening or hardening near the ankles and, in some cases, open sores called venous ulcers.

How long do results last?

Treated veins are closed or removed for good. However, new varicose veins can form over time because of genetics, age or pregnancy, so follow-up visits help keep your veins healthy.

How long is recovery after vein treatment?

Most people walk out the same day and return to light activity within a day or two. Mild soreness or bruising may last a week or two, and compression stockings may be advised.

Does insurance cover vein treatment?

Many plans cover treatment when it’s medically necessary, based on your symptoms and ultrasound findings. Spider vein treatment alone is usually cosmetic. Our team checks your benefits before your visit.

What does "medically necessary" mean for vein treatment?

It means treatment is needed to relieve symptoms or treat vein disease found on ultrasound, not only to change how your legs look. Some plans also require a trial of compression stockings first.

What affects the cost of vein treatment?

Cost depends on the type of treatment, how many veins are treated, how many sessions you need and your insurance coverage. For cosmetic treatment, we share self-pay pricing before you book.

Will treatment get rid of my visible veins?

Treated veins usually fade or shrink, though results build over weeks to months and some veins need more than one session. New veins can form over time, so occasional touch-ups may help.
